Typical CRM Activities that You Can Use to Improve Employee Engagement

Apr 8 / D du Bois

Employees who are satisfied are not necessarily engaged and vice versa. Custom Insight states that employee engagement is “the extent to which employees feel passionate about their jobs, are committed, and put voluntary effort into their work” while “employee satisfaction only indicates how happy or content your employees are. It does not address their level of motivation, involvement, or commitment.”

Employees are the most important part of your business. Sounds cliché but it’s not. The magic ingredient is having happy and engaged employees. Happy and engaged employees will take care of your business and your clients too. Now the question becomes – how do you achieve both? You can start by using some CRM activities to help improve your employee engagement

The welcome, birthday and anniversary:

Employees will not be engaged if they feel invisible or like they don’t matter. Hence, it’s very important to use the data that you already have to enhance your employee’s experience and make them feel special. Why does this drive engagement? Because if you show that you care and value your employees, they will want to go the extra mile for you and the business.

When an employee starts with your company, you will have their ID number and the date that they are meant to start. With this information you are ready to communicate with the employees using personalisation and believe me they will appreciate the thought.

As soon as your employee has a company email address set up, send them a welcome email. The purpose of this email is obviously to welcome the employee to your company officially but also to introduce yourself, their boss or line manager, open communication with the employee, make them feel more at ease and it also creates the idea that there is some structure and they won’t be flying blind.

Send a yearly personalized birthday email or even an SMS to your employees on their birthdays.
Send employees “Happy anniversary” emails on their yearly work anniversary.

Feedback and sentiment polls

If an employee can’t voice their opinions and feelings or they feel that they are not heard, they will not be engaged. Set up polls and surveys to distribute to employees to get their feelings and thoughts on things such as the work environment, policies, processes, their job satisfaction, ideas etc. Set up dedicated feedback mediums or tools to give employees the opportunity to give their opinions, concerns or ask questions.

Company Newsletters:

It’s important to keep in touch with your employees during their tenure at your company. Sending out regular news flashes will keep employees informed and up to date with everything happening. You can make these fun and engaging to attract attention and participation. You can also incorporate ways for employees to provide feedback, submit news ideas etc.

This is extremely important as it makes your employees feel special and that they are valued in the company These activities will drive employees to go the extra mile, to engage with your content and processes, to come up with good ideas and contribute.

When you focus on your employee experience, your employees will become engaged and employee satisfaction will automatically improve as well. If you need any advice or assistance with your employee experience, then pop us a message and we’ll get in touch.
